Jump Out Contest

Official Rules

1. There are two ways to enter: A) Submit a jump-rope rhyme of 4 lines or longer, written by the entrant; or B) Submit a “jump-rope record” consisting of the number of times the entrant was able to jump rope in a row without stopping. 2. Entries must also include the entrant’s name, age, address, phone number, and an e-mail address we may use to contact the entrant. 3. Entries must be postmarked by May 15, 2009 and mailed to DG Jump Out, Discovery Girls, P.O. Box 110760, Campbell, CA 95011. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, stolen, incomplete, or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified, or for problems of any kind whether mechanical, human, or electronic. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. 4. No purchase necessary to enter. A purchase will not improve chances of winning. Contest is open to girls ages 7 to 13 who are legal residents of the 50 states of the United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada, except as prohibited by law. Employees of Discovery Girls, Inc., Fundex Games, Ltd. and their affiliates, and the families of each are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws apply. 5. A potential winner of the jump-rope record portion of the contest will be determined on or about June 1, 2009. The winner will be the entrant who submits the highest number of jumps. The potential winning entrant will be required to provide a signed statement from her parent or legal guardian affirming that the child’s jump-rope record was counted in good faith and is accurate to the best of the parent or guardian’s knowledge, within 5 days of notification of winning the prize. If the parent or guardian is unable or unwilling to provide such a statement, the entrant will be disqualified and another potential winner will be chosen. 6. The winner of the jump-rope rhyme contest will be determined as follows: At least three (3) finalists will be chosen from among all entries received. Finalists for the jump-rope rhymes will be chosen based on creativity of the rhymes and their suitability for this age group. The first names, ages, and states of finalists will be posted on DiscoveryGirls.com on May 24, 2009, along with their jump-rope rhyme. Beginning at 12:01 A.M. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on May 28, 2009, visitors to DiscoveryGirls.com may vote for their favorite rhyme from among the finalists. 7. The jump-rope rhyme winner will be chosen based on the number of votes received, with voting closed and a final tally taken at 12:00 midnight on June 14, 2009. The winning entry will be the rhyme that receives the highest number of votes. 8. The winner will be contacted by phone on or about June 20, 2009. Prize packages will be limited to one per household. Prizes will be mailed directly from companies providing prizes and/or the editorial offices of Discovery Girls, Inc. Contest entry constitutes permission for Discovery Girls, Inc. to provide entrant’s postal address to one of the companies providing prizes in the event that entrant wins a prize. 9. No substitutions or transfer of prizes is permitted. All taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. By entering, entrant accepts and agrees to these official rules and the decision of sponsor, which shall be final in all matters. Participation in sweepstakes/contest and acceptance of prize constitutes each winner’s permission for Sponsor to use her name, address (state only), likeness, photograph, picture, portrait, voice, biographical information and/or any statements made by winner regarding the sweepstakes/contest or Sponsor for advertising and promotional purposes without notice or additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. 10. By participating, entrants, winner agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its partners from any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation for, or participation in sweepstakes/contest, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any sweepstakes/contest-related activity and for any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery. 11. Sponsor is not responsible if sweepstakes/contest cannot take place or if prize cannot be awarded due to travel cancellations, delays, or interruptions due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather, or acts of terrorism. Entrants who do not comply with these Official Rules or attempt to interfere with this sweepstakes/contest in any way shall be disqualified. 12.To obtain a list of winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope after June 20, 2009 to Discovery Girls Jump Out Winners List, P.O. Box 110760, Campbell, CA, 95011. 13. Prizes available and approximate retail value (ARV) are as follows: Two (2) winners (one [1] for jump-rope rhymes, one [1] for jump-rope record) will receive: Apple: 1 iPod Nano, ARV $149 each; Discovery Girls: 1 Fab Girls Guides book set, ARV $29.95 each set; Fundex Games, Ltd. 1 Jump Rope Jam, ARV $12.99; 1 Double Dutch Pro, ARV $8.99, and 1 Chuck O Splash, ARV $39.99; and winners will also be featured in the August/September 09 issue of Discovery Girls magazine.
