I am just like Mackenzie!!! We both like soccer and are both new kids. I am about to go to a new school and I am soooo nervous!!

Everyone gets nervous sometimes but that’s just life. I’m sure you’ll find a great group of soccer friends and maybe even a favorite teacher. Don’t be nervous or else everything might go wrong. Say in your head “I will not be nervous. I will not be nervous.” And everything will be great!

on TV there is always an episode about how nobody likes the new kids… its not real! at my school everybody likes to meet new kids and i try to be extra nice to them! so dont worry… it will all turn out great!

I totally agree with all you guys! i was once the new kid, and it wasn’t that bad. I moved to England for a while, and after a while, you find awesome people, and have a great time!! =) don’t worry, everyone can fit in somewhere, even if it doesn’t seem like that sometimes!

I used to be at this new this new girl at a totally different school! I was like a statue and guess how that worked out for me?? HORRIBLY!! But then another girl was new and she was a friend to many people! I was a very social person so I started hangin out with my brother’s friends and then by the end of the day I had boy and girl BFFs! Now that this is my second year everybody wants to be around me, even some of the mean girls,(I was friends with everyone)! So just play and soon what do expect a new BFF!
fairy tales dont have a happy ending...
you see,its not really posible to go to a new school and then be popular.My friend went to middle school and is still not popular.But she has friends and nice pople around her.cuz its not like u stay at the school and become sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooopopular at once! cuzthere is a 50%50% that u may or may not be popular. -Sabrina

most of the time being “popular” isn’t worth it. i would much rather have a bunch of really good friends than have a bunch of maybe friends hanging around me!
the parents view
Parents today think that popular means being nice and having tons of friends, and that people are attracted to your smile. Girls today think that poular means having tons of friends, but being cool.Parents say that we are wrong, but all we did was change the definition of a word.

Sorry, but I disagree at the comment that it is not really possible to go to a new school and then become popular. When you are a new kid, the kids at the school are intrested about you and want to get to know you. Being the new kid, the kids at your new school don’t know what you were like at your old school so “popular” girls looking for a new branch in their group will most likely want to get to know the new kid. When they see what a great person you are, why couldn’t you be popular?

Awesome job!
I am very proud of what you did, and I feel you could be a lot of girls’ role model. You, like many girls, became shy at first, but overcame your fear, by making a new friend, who was a friend to many. This caused you to make a lot more friends, and I’m happy and surprised that happened right away! I hope a lot of other middle-school girls take your advice to just be yourself, you know, “chillax” and all that. I’m happy with what you did, and I expect more girls to be just like you!

When I went to a new school, it was REALLY hard for me. I’m not very good at making friends, so I was by myself a lot. But, when I started to get a bit more outgoing, I met a lot of new people. So, HANG IN THERE!!!!! We’ll get through this together! In the meantime, just be yourself. I’m sure lots of people would want to be your friend if they got to know you!!!! :)

Way to go on making lots of new friends! I was also the new girl at my school this year, and I was sooooo freaked out. ( I was also scared cause most people think im in, like, grade 6 even though im in grade 8) . I just listened when people talked and tried to be responsive, and now, I have a lot of really amazing friends!

yeah, being the new kid can be fun! its a new oppertunity cuz no one will know what you are like, and it could be a whole new expirience. especially with starting Jr. High! its soooo nerve-racking until u actually get there. then you feel like really official and stuff. lockers, and desks where the chairs are attached were the 2 hardest things 4 me! also you think you will B made fun of but u WONT i promise you rite now! oh, and dont B afraid 2 make new friends cuz i have TONS of NEW bffs!! well even if your not new, GOOD LUCK IN SCHOOL!

At my school if you are a new kid, everyone hangs out with you and wants to be your friend! They usually are the most popular kid in class after a week!

I wanted to be the new kid for along time until i was the new kid! i had to move to a different state and A new school no one talked to me! but after a while it got better i started to make new friends but i still really missed my old ones!

It is not that bad to be the new kid, it can be good in so many ways! I was the new kid once and i met so many new friends and they were all so nice, but the school was way different than my old one and I like it a lot so it is as bad as it seems

its not as bad a s it seems…i was the new girl and people kinda treated me odd but i did make friends so that was good. but um there’s this new girl, just came and people treat her like dirt. and i mean it so i talk to her and be nice. be nice urself and that’d make things better! New Schools, BAD or GOOD
Sometimes being the new kid is bad and sometimes good. it really depends on the kind of people and the kind of friends tou make at your new school to say weather is bad or really good ! ! !
Being Scared
You don’t have to be scared when you go to a new school. You only have to be scared if you moved around a lot! I did when I was small and still do! I hated it! But now it is so fun! So if you go to a new school act yourself. Make sure you crack a laugh out of them!

Same school all my life
I have NEVER been the new kid. I have gone to the same school since preschool!!! But next year i have to go to a new school i will be the new kid. YIKES!!
Don't worry about switching to a new school
I went to the same school all my life too, and in my school everybody knew me including all the teachers. But when I graduated from 5th grade, I had to go to a middle school bigger than my old school even though there are less grades. I was very nervous! But I wasn’t the only one who had to make the tranformation. All the kids in my old school had to go to this new school too. Plus I made lots of new friends and still keep the old. My new school was awesome and since it was for older kids we got more responsibilities like getting to sit where ever we want at lunch and getting time between classes to talk to friends. Plus I built up my reputation like it was in my old school. At the end of the year, my teachers saw i was responsible and they ended up letting me show younger kids from my old school about my new school. I love middle school!!!!!! (so far)

I tottally agree that it depends on your attitude and what kind of person that you are. I would not want to be the new kid either. It’s really cool that some people want to be the new kid. I’ve always dreaded being the new kid but i see your point!
new girl-good or bad?
hey, peoples! i know u all have differnt perspectives on being a new kid..do u think it’d be fun, or not so great?
i was new, and for me it’s both. it’s kinda harsh because everybody judges u when u show up. when i walked 2 my desk, i heard 2 whispers:”what is wrong with her? that outfit must be from a junkyard.” and “her glasses make her look like a dork. she probably is one.” but i ignored them. when i heard “those shoes are soooo last year.” i said “yep! thats when i got ‘em! and they still fit, 2!”
it’s really fun, 2. u meet new friends and see new places! now, i’m not shy at all. i say hi 2 everybody. so sorry if it’s harder for the people who have a hard time opening up right away!
Wanna be POPULAR?
If u wanna be popular than u have to be really nice to people. Some kids in my school think that they are popular for the wrong reasons. People say they are popular cause they go out with all these boys. That doesnt mean u r popular. I hang out with the cool and popular kids but they r all popular because they have a lot of peaple and friends that like them and care about them. That’s the right reason to be POPULAR. Not because all u do is go out with guys, because u have a lot of friends!!!!!! So stay in school, be popular, and have fun.

i agree because i came to a new school in kindergarten and everyone wanted to know who i was how old i was and all my info and i cryed cause i hardly had any air but it was funny becuase my teacher got it on camera and show it to me !

at my old school in texas, when a new girl came, everyone (even the boys) wanted to hang out w/you and then, you have a ton of friends. Here at my new school, no.

New Kids
you might think it is awesome to be the new kid because you are popular but it is really akward and strange being in a new school and not all schools have kids that are so nice to new kids and most don’t become popular instantly.

Being New = Being YOU!
Being new can be scary too, even if the “populars” are hanging out with you and trying to get to know you, they might just be figuring out what is wrong with you so they can poke fun at you later. And plus if that’s not the plan, being popular isn’t much fun, especially when you’re new and you have absolutely no idea who all the kids who are crowding around you saying “who are you?” are. I think the awesome thing about being a new kid at a new school where no one knows you is that you can just be yourself, because you don’t know anyone and all you have to do is show the world who YOU are and the people who want to be your friend are people who like you for the person that you show the world—and if you play your cards right by just being you, then people will truly like you for who you are, not someone else you just pretend to be to fit in. Be yourself in a new school, and put any bad past experiences in your old school behind and you’ll be just fine. I guarantee it! :)

when I went to my old school ihad a lot of friends and when imoved to my new school i made one friend then i started making alot more .now im in jr high and my old friends are in my class.

I totally loved Mackenzie’s Journal in this months Issue ot was so funny My friend and I read it and cracked up we also love Embarising Momments we thought the Barny one was so funny but when we read the Dog Test it says my dog is spoiled but it was right and i hate my dog.
