Show your love for Mother Earth and plant a flower or tree, clean up around your home, bike instead of ride in a car. Earth Day seeks to highlight and promote efforts dedicated to the protection of the environment.

Turn up the music on Record Store Day. As of 2012, there are only approximately 1,600 independent record stores left in the US.

It had been about a year since I had started reading Discovery Girls when I applied. When I saw the ad for the 2016 Leadership Summit, I decided immediately that I wanted to apply. I mean, how cool would it be to be in a magazine, even though I doubted they would choose me over thousands of other girls?!  It took me close to two months working on my questionnaire. The first was spent writing the first draft, and the second was spent editing and procrastinating.

National Siblings Day celebrates and recognize the importance of brothers and sisters. The bond and relationship between siblings is unlike any other as it is usually a person's longest relationship over his/her lifetime.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the oldest family in the world is the Tweed family. The 7 brothers and 5 sisters vary in age from 76 to 96 for a combined age of 1020.

My fabulous writing teacher suggested I apply to be a Discovery Girl because she knew I liked sharing stories. I knew there was a slim chance of being chosen and nearly didn’t apply because of the towering pile of homework on my desk, but as always, she encouraged me to try.  Even if I wasn’t picked, I knew I at least I had given it my best shot!

I applied to be a Discovery Girl because I thought I had lots of wisdom to share with other girls! One day when I was reading my magazine, I turned it over and bam! There it was...the invitation to apply! I was pretty confident I'd be chosen...but nervous too.

It took me less than a week to fill out the questionnaire. And while I didn't particularly like it, it did make me examine myself, which is something I hadn't done in a long time! I was nervous but confident. When my friends and family found out I had made it in, they were happy and excited for me!

I was reading the magazine when I saw the ad for the Summit and thought, "How cool would that be?!" Plus it's part of my favorite magazine. After writing my questionnaire, I felt confident! I learned a lot about myself when I was writing my answers. I spent a lot of time on it but as time went on I thought it might be unlikely for me to actually get in because of how many applications there were.
